Symbols of the Eucharist
The symbols of the Eucharist are a very big part of mass. There are many symbols as well. One of these symbols is bread. Bread represents life because it is humans (us) that nurture it and help it grow. Another is wine, this is because this is also crushed and made by humans. The laying of the hands is yet another symbol. The laying of the hands is a symbol because it represents the calling down of the holy spirit. The white garment is another symbol. This is because the white garment represents baptism, the wiping away of all sin. Annointing of oil is a symbol because it means that if you are annointed, you are set aside for a particular mission. Water is another symbol because it symbolises the drowning of one's old life. Fire and/or light is another because they are a symbol of God's presence. All of these symbols represent the Eucharist in different ways.
